Raise your hand if your dive boat did not sink this month

It’s been a bad month dive boats in Thailand. Phuket News reported on Wednesday (2/12/1014) that the last three weeks three Thai dive boats have gone down while out on dive trips. All souls on all three boats were rescued safely by near by boats.

The latest reported sinking was delayed because Andaman Scuba the owners of the MV Bunmee I  were reportedly trying to keep it quiet. The Bunmee was a live aboard with carrying 15 French divers when it caught fire and went down on 1 Feb.

Another live aboard, the MV Blue Star owned by Chalong Sea Sport also caught fire before sinking on 9 February. The 20 or so passengers were rescued by a passing fishing boat.

A dramatic video was taken during the rescue of those on board the dive boat Magic Carpet when it went down fast after debris in the water punctured her hull near the propeller on 29 January.
