Is this too good to be true? A luxury dive resort AND green, sustainable policies?
Divers looking for a luxury dive vacation, look no further than the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort. Called “the epitome of every tropical paradise fantasy you ever had” by British Elle Magazine, the resort is reached by a 30 minute seaplane ride from Malé, 3 degrees north of the equator. Surrounded by a blue lagoon and dramatic coral reef, this resort is a diver’s dream come true. Best of all, the resort is going green:
On 08th May, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has launched its own ”Green Team” composed of 21 team members from all departments of the resort. The team is growing daily and now counts 39 people!
Actions from the green team, with the support from all the team members of the resort, include regular underwater cleaning with the help of our diving centre SubAqua, regular Earth hours, recycling projects, reducing waste of water and energy and many more initiatives.
A compulsory training is currently run to educate the team on global environmental awareness and simple actions that every one can do on a daily basis.
I Googled this resort and it looks Wow! – with 50 of the most luxurious water villas in the country, 79 exotic new beach villas and 21 fabulous new spa water villas with private treatment rooms this is a diver’s heaven. There’s one small catch – the cost is several thousand dollars per night…start saving!
